Housing is critical to the economic health of our communities. Employers need housing to attract and retain workers, families need options they can afford, and our communities need a variety of housing choices to support residents at every stage of life.
Housing Iosco is Develop Iosco's initiative to help increase housing opportunities throughout the county by connecting communities, developers, property owners and partners with the resources, funding and knowledge needed to move housing projects forward.
Develop Iosco works with property owners and developers to identify funding opportunities, navigate available resources and move promising housing projects forward.
We help local governments and community partners connect with state, federal and philanthropic housing resources and provide technical assistance related to housing programs, grants and development opportunities.
Through partnerships and Housing Iosco Meetups, we bring together developers, local officials, lenders, contractors and housing professionals to build the knowledge and connections needed to create more housing.
Housing Iosco Meetups are informal, focused conversations designed to build local knowledge and connections around housing development.
Topics include small-scale development, housing financing, zoning and land use, funding programs, development incentives and other tools that can help move housing projects forward.
Developers, property owners, local officials, lenders, contractors and anyone interested in helping address Iosco County's housing needs are encouraged to participate.
Develop Iosco provided grant writing and technical assistance for Crescent Beach Apartments, a 10-unit rental housing project in Baldwin Township. The project was awarded $420,000 through MSHDA's MI Neighborhood Program to help create new affordable workforce rental units in Iosco County.
This project is part of a larger effort. Develop Iosco continues to work with property owners, developers and local governments to identify potential housing projects and connect them with the resources needed to move from concept to development.
Our goal is not one project. It is creating a stronger pipeline of housing opportunities across Iosco County.
